News broke yesterday that the organization had suspended the industrial action because of Ebola
Despite reports to the contrary, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has not suspended its ongoing strike.
Reports had it yesterday that the doctors had stopped the industrial action to handle the incursion of the Ebola disease into Nigeria.
However the Secretary-General of the NMA, Adewumni Alayaki, has stated that the strike is far from over.
He said:
"The strike continues until the federal government brings back an appropriate proposal to solve the industrial conflict,"
The nation's public sector doctors have been on strike for the past 5 weeks and they have voiced their intention to continue the action until their demands are met.
