Ebola is not an automatic death sentence- Fashola

Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola has said contracting Ebola is not an automatic death sentence, stressing that the consequences of death would depend on what is done and what is not done to contain the deadly disease.
Fashola made this statement during an inspection visit to an isolation ward for patients with symptoms of Ebola Virus Disease at the Mainland Hospital, Yaba area of Lagos, today.
The governor furthers “the facility is now ready for use, as the we tackle the outbreak of Ebola disease that has claimed two lives already.
“The State has a health challenge on her hands and the administration is concerned about the people in terms of their well-being and for the people who have taken leadership to help in containing it.
He stressed that there were already reported cases of patients who are recovering in other parts of West Africa and that the issue was about being able to respond to it appropriately and taking precaution.
“We are also taking precaution and that is also why we did not go into where the patients are because there is a very strict protocol for going there, so if you are going there, you must wear a fully protected gown.
In the place where we are expanding to ensure that we are able to cope with anything that comes, you would see the shower there; people have to go through a protocol, one way in, one way out. That is why you cannot go into where patients are now unless you are fully protected appropriately and unless you walk through the mandated process for going in and for coming out”.
“Those who are detoxifying and decontaminating they don’t go in. They are waiting outside and those who go in do so under a very rigorous protocol set up with advise from the centre for disease control and then people who are not critically ill and stuffs, where they go and how we are going to be disposing off their refuse and their waste have been worked out.
Provisions have already been made there so that we can separate very critically ill people from people who are just showing symptoms but who need to be in isolation,” Governor Fashola said.
Fashola said that provisions had also been made to separate critically ill people from people who are just showing symptoms but who need to be in isolation.
The governor pointed out that the first defence against the virus was to prevent it from spreading; stressing that once that is done, then the health authorities are on the way towards coming out of it.
“From what I hear following a long discussion I heard with the leadership of the Centre for Disease Control in Washington yesterday, I was speaking with them comparing what they were doing with what they expected us to be doing. Their personnel are here for clarity working and helping in training people,” the Governor explained.
He urged persons who feel they had had contact with an Ebola victim to ensure they do not make further contact with any member of their family.
The government is making all efforts to ensure that the spread of the virus is contained and the facility is one of the strategies aimed at reducing contact with persons with the virus.
Two new case was reported on Friday morning, increasing fears that the virus was spreading in one of Nigeria’s most populous cities, Lagos with over 20 million peopl

Angry students ground activities at FUPRE

By Egufe Yafugborhi & Akpokona Omafuaire
ACADEMIC activities at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun, FUPRE, were Friday grounded by angry students who shut the school gates following killing of their colleague, Jimoh Lateef Babatunde, a 400 level Computer Science student by gunmen.
Akpomedaye Philip, Governor of the isolated FUPRE Boys Hostel in Ugbomro where the late student  resided told Vanguard that the victim had barely left the hostel at about 8pm on Thursday when two deafening gunshots near the hostel jostled students to the reality of the situation.
”It is another case of robbery. Babatunde should have been graduating in the next four months. We were together discussing sports when he excused us to fetch some items outside. Barely 30 minutes later, he was lying in a pool of his blood, his neck shattered by one of the two gunshots we heard not far from the hostel.
”We have been under ceaseless attacks and molestation from criminals within Ugbomro community. The other day it was another male student who survived a shot to the head.
The insecurity being faced by students in FUPRE has become unbearable and management is hardly concerned. Imagine a student brutally murdered and the CSO who has failed to secure the lives of students is passing blame, accusing harmless Babatunde of being a cultist. We don’t know who the next victim might be,” he said.
Armed soldiers and police men denied our reporters access tothe FUPRE campus as the protesting students took over the school gate calling immediate reinstatement of the suspended Dean of Student Affairs and the sack of the Chief Security Officer for failing to provide adequate security.
A top of official of the university who craved anonymity said, upon reaching the crime scene  he immediately called the Divisional Police Officer of Ebrumede Police Station who came with his men and he made an entry before the corpse was taken to the Warri Central Hospital morgue.
Contacted, the school’s Public Affairs Officer, Boniface Onyedi said it would be hasty for management to make a statement now, adding that the Vice Chancellor and other top officials were busy trying to meet with the angry students and other concerned stakeholders.
At the PTI Conference Centre where the crucial meeting was to hold, leaders of the FUPRE Student Union Government told Vanguard that the meeting failed to hold because the management was too restrictive of students’ participation.
Ominigbo Edafe, immediate past Speaker of the SUG said: “What is important is that we stand by the same demand we have highlighted in previous meetings. Ugbomro community is too hostile for FUPRE students. We cannot live there anymore. The way out is for management to provide us alternative hostels where our safety will be guaranteed. We want school-built hostels right in the heart of FUPRE campus.
”Part of the challenges too is that the host communities say they are not benefiting enough from the school and hey vent their vengeful discontent on students who live around them. The bottom line is that if the critical issues and our demands are not addressed satisfactorily, no form of academic or management activity will be carried out in the school from this moment.”
Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, DSP Celestina Kalu (Mrs.) confirmed the death of the student, adding that the matter is under investigation.

Are Kim Kardashian and Kanye West planning another baby already?

She's been banging on about her weight a hell of a lot recently, but is Kim Kardashian already thinking about getting pregnant a year and a bit after daughter North West was born?
According to reports, Kim and husband Kanye West are planning to expand their family as soon as possible to give little Norrie a sibling who's close in age to her – and Kimye are desperate to move out of Kris Jenner's house to give their growing family some privacy.
Us Magazine reports that the 33-year-old reality star actually started trying for their second child when they went on honeymoon in June – which kind of explains why they picked rainy Ireland over somewhere more tropical.

"Kanye wants a boy," a source told the magazine, adding that Kim has been accompanying Kanye when he records his album for some, erm, 'couple time'.
However, Kim will not be telling the entire world when she conceives again – she wants to keep it quiet for as long as possible.
"Kim won't tell anyone until she's five months along," the insider said. "She doesn’t want people scrutinising her body."
With the Kardashian klan around her, though, we somehow doubt they'll be able to keep it to themselves for too long…

Kourtney Kardashian shares naked pregnancy picture of her AND mum Kris Jenner: 'I got it from my mama'

In the beginning there was the Word, and the Word was Kris Jenner, and the song was Kris Jenner, and basically all our puny human lives begin and end with Kris Jenner until infinity the end.
At least, that's the impression we're getting from Kourtney Kardashian's latest Instagram update, which is just a casual side-by-side view of her naked pregnant body next to momager Kris's naked pregnant body.
THERE'S SO MUCH NAKED PREGNANT FLESH WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO COPE.
There we were thinking Demi Moore pioneered the naked pregnancy photo on the cover of Vanity Fair in 1991, but Kris Jenner was at it too waaaay back when.
Kourtney, who is currently expecting her third child with long-term partner Scott Disick, shared the snap of when she was pregnant with four-year-old son Mason.
She hasn't yet revealed whether her baby will be another boy or a little sister to her two=year-old daughter Penelope.
Kourtney's sister Kim Kardashian is said to be planning on expanding her own family with husband Kanye West, and reportedly wants a baby brother or sister to 14-month-old North West.

Kristen Stewart explains why she’ll never smile for the paparazzi

Oval-faced Twilight actress Kristen Stewart has explained why she will never smile for the paparazzi. And it’s not… it’s not because they caught her doing something unsavoury to Rupert Sanders in the backseat of a car once. It’s for reasons outside of that.
Speaking to this month’s Elle — who she posed for in a high-concept supermarket shoot, looking basically like a supermodel if supermodels were really miserable — K-Stew explained why she never pouted and preened for the cameras.

“Now I feel like if I smiled for a paparazzi photo — not that I ever would — that’s exactly what people would be desecrating me for.
“They’d be like, ‘Now you’re going to give it up, now you’re a sellout’. Like, okay. What do you want? What would you like?”

Kristen also explained that she had never sat down and plotted her career trajectory — which is clearly working out pretty well, actually, seeing as she’s currently starring in a film with Jennifer Lawrence’s ex Nicholas Hoult.

“Never at any point have I sat down and plotted how I should proceed from here on,” she K-Stewed.
The single star – who split with boyfriend of four on-again-off-again years Robert Pattinson last year — has been linked to her new co-star, after the two of them were spotted eating sushi together. SUSHI? TOGETHER? THEY ARE DEFINITELY DOING IT

Here’s that naked shower selfie of Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace that you were asking for

Here’s that naked shower selfie of Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace that you were asking for

Hiya yeah not much going on apart from Aisleyne ‘ASH-UH-LEANNNNNN!’ Horgan-Wallace of Big Brother and Celebrity Coach Trip fame has this week posted the next level in selfies. Presenting to you: the naked-and-in-the-shower selfie.
Like: selfies aren’t even selfies anymore, are they? If you get Aisleyne a good enough printer and she gets a couple of Jon Ronson columns filed every month, she could put together a pretty decent Playboy competitor just featuring pictures of her own butt. Essentially, you are not taking a selfie anymore unless it is of sufficient quality to feature in a glossy semi-pornographic magazine. That is Aisleyne’s fault.
Dog, boobs and food: the Instagram trifecta

To be fair to Aisleyne, she is looking — and there’s no PC, 2014-appropriate, Tumblr-friendly way of saying this — extremely fit in the photo. As the caption explains, she’s showing off the results of months of hard work in the gym, saying: “#progress I wouldn't have dreamed of taking this photo months ago.... #dedication #fitness #gym #strength still not where I want to be but 100% better than what I was! DO IT LADIES.” Yes, ladies! Post naked pictures on the Internet! This cannot be a bad idea in any way at all!
ASH-UH-LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN

We think Instagram user ‘hounsex’ said it best, commenting: “I’D SMASH THE F**K OUT OF YOU.” So, you know. There’s always that option, Aisleyne. It’s comments like that that really make all those gains worth it, isn’t it? Thank you, ‘hounsex’. Truly
