Ghanaian actress Juliet Ibrahim is upset with on air personalities who have been joking about Ebola on air.
Popular beautiful Ghanian actress Juliet Ibrahim is angry with the attitude of some important on air personalities with the spread of the Ebola virus in West Africa.
She accused some of the OAP’s of making jokes while the virus is spreading and still has no cure. She she questioned everyone who have been joking about the epidemic and asked how can someone behave like that when in people in neighbouring countries have been dying and some with their entire family.
Her words; Seriously it’s sad how many are so ignorant and heartless. Our brothers and sisters in neighboring countries are dying daily from a deadly viral disease that has no cure and could hit any one of us if we are not careful yet we have others senselessly waking up in d morning taking time off their jobless schedules to type rubbish and broadcast it! Must every thing be a joke?
Instead of us Africans sitting and trying to work on finding the cure we are joblessly spreading lies about salt water curing Ebola whilst waitin around for America to keep busy in their various labs finding a cure that I am very sure we the same Africans will pay for to get a hold of. Today, however, Information Minister Labaran Maku and Health Minister Onyebuchi Chukwu have both denied “healing” properties of the brine solution (a mix of large salt quantities and water), Premium Times and Daily Trust report, and warned Nigerians against believing such unfounded claims. The ministers advised us to observe “maximum environmental and personal hygiene to guard against contracting the deadly virus”.
After receiving scores of messages from our readers who insisted on “spreading the news” of the newfound “cure,” Naij.com has tried to trace the origins of the aforementioned hearsay.

This morning, a Nairaland forum user Adesewa posted a message confessing of and apologizing for “starting” the “hot-water-and-salt” Ebola cure rumour.

“I am coming out clean because what started has a joke has escalated into the unprecedented,” Adesewa said and explained that yesterday (Thursday, August 7), a friend has suggested they “play a prank” on their friends by broadcasting a BBM message which said “the Ministry of Health has asked everyone to bathe with salt and warm water and drink some of it.”

The news started spreading immediately, and Adesewa personally got a number of calls and messages persuading him to follow the mock advice.

“All efforts to tell people that I was the one who started the joke failed. … Even my mum could me this morning, I did not know what to tell her.

“Please don’t be harsh on me. I know this has gone out of hand. I never knew it would be this serious,” Adesewa begged.

Although it is impossible to confirm or deny whether Adesewa was indeed the one to initiate the rumour, the story shows clearly how gullible people easily fall for a simple Internet lie.

Luckily, some Nigerians have been trying to get through to others and convince them to be guided by common sense instead of blindly following questionable information.
Muhammadu Buhari has, too, taken to his Facebook account urging his fellow Nigerians to “spread the message about the virus and create the necessary awareness among local populace”. He also reminded that “there is no any non-scientific or non-medical approach to dealing with the disease. Any such unconventional approach only increases the risk of infection and endangers public health safety”.

A woman in Austria has been fined up to 1,000 Euros ($1,340) for constantly walking on the streets with nothing but a pair of white tennis shoes.

According to Police spokesman Johann Baumschlager, the young woman was stopped by police on Tuesday after cycling past officers manning a radar trap on a highway in northeastern Austria.

Baumschlager said on Wednesday the woman was again identified and told to go home and get dressed. She was also informed she had been charged with disturbing public decency — a misdemeanor that carries a maximum 1,000-euro fine.

She had previously been sighted in the buff while shopping in a supermarket and at a gas station, filling up her car - and still Naked! (What if there was a fire?)

Unfortunately, the woman's name wasn't mentioned going by the Austrian privacy laws.

Ebola: Lagos State Confirms Two Fresh Cases.

The Nigerian government has confirmed two fresh cases of the Ebola virus has been confirmed in two individuals in Lagos state.

This fresh discovery brings the number of infected to seven in the nation and with two dead.
Also The Federal Government has warned people who are spreading false rumours and deceiving the mass public.
They especially talked about the recent rumour concerning the bathing with salt water being circulated via SMS and the social media as a cure for Ebola, saying that anyone caught spreading such rumors would be prosecuted.
According to Vanguard, The FG is now monitoring 139 people.
The virus was brought to the country by the Liberian man Patrick Sawyer, who was rushed to the hospital from the Lagos Airport with Ebola symptoms and died two days following the admission. The second patient to die in Nigeria from Ebola was a nurse who attended Sawyer.
With the rapid spread of the virus in the country, the Federal Government requested the experimental drug from the US, which is believed to have saved lives of 2 Americans. However President Obama said it was too early to send the drug, which had not yet undergone all the necessary safety trials, to Africa.

Act Of Shame: Two Military Men Fight Each Other To Death Over A Girl In Lagos.

Two military officers, Hilary and Sheu Abdullahi, fought each other to death on Sunday morning at a popular night club on Pen Crescent, Apapa area of Lagos over a girlfriend.

Hilary, a corporal in the Nigerian Army had gone to the club with his girlfriend who was donned in a military outfit.

The problem however began when the bouncers at the club stopped the lady and challenged her for wearing a camouflage despite not being a military officer.

Hilary in defense of his girlfriends, allegedly asked why they would question his girlfriend in his presence and an argument ensued.
Abdullahi, a naval officer who tried to settle the dispute, further fueled the fight by slapping the soldier’s girlfriend for disrespecting him.
Confirming the incident, the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Lelma Kolle, said,

“yes, the incident happened. Actually, two people died. We received a distress call from someone that there was a situation at the club and we instantly rushed to the scene. We were able to bring the situation under control and prevent further loss of lives. It was just unfortunate that by the time we got there, the two officers had died. But the police arrested two military officers in connection with the incident.”

He added that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, and the corpses of the slain officers have been deposited in the mortuary.
